Alexandria Veterinary Clinic

The Alexandria Veterinary Clinic is a full functioning animal hospital in Alexandria, Ontario for canines and felines.

Established in 1981, our veterinary services include preventative care, surgery, dentistry, digital radiology and behaviour counselling.
Dr. Janet Lalonde dreamt of being a “vet” since she was a child. She graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1980, having earlier received a Bsc in Agriculture from the University of Guelph. Dr. Lalonde brings with her a wealth of experience in private practice. Dr. Lalonde enjoys the many aspects of her profession having a keen interest in surgery. She loves her work and despite more than 35 years of practice has still “not seen it all”.

In her spare time Dr. Lalonde enjoys her personal four (4) legged pets.

I had this clinic recommended to me by friends. It took a bit of time to weight pros and cons, particularly since I live in Ottawa and that represented a 1h drive. I must say that it was some of the best vet care I got for my dog. Diagnosed and treated what had previously been misdiagnosed by other vets (and naturally the treatments did not work). Would recommend it, even if it means a long car ride. Plus, if you live in Ottawa you can get cheaper gas on your way there.

Hands down best vet I've ever been to! My dog went in to have teeth removed a couple months ago and was treated like royalty. Janet and her staff do not do things unnecessarily to increase your bill like every single other vet I've been to (in Ottawa & Mtl) , it was GREATLY APPRECIATED. I left paying a fraction of what I was quoted in Ottawa and Montreal, Chilula was out of surgery within 2 hours and I've never seen her this happy!!!! She is a new dog! Janet left a few teeth in so that her tongue wouldn't flop out but I've never seen her bite and play this much! Wish I could post a photo of her little tongue blep that sticks out of the side of her mouth when she's sleeping. Love love love this vet!

Janet is a phenomenal vet! She has looked after our dogs' well being, since 2004 and she has always exceeded our expectations! Most of her staff are communicative and more concerned about the well-being of your pet than making the up-sell of add ons.

The very best vet I have ever dealt with. No B.S type of practice. Will not offer/perform unnecessary tests. She is straight to the point. When I lived in Ottawa I would drive to her (50mins) because the prices are excellent; and she is a fantastic doctor. She has been our vet for many years and four dogs now, and she will continue to be our vet until she retires!

This fantastic vet saved my dogs life 12 years ago. My dog had eaten the tape of an audio cassette and while the other vets were saying "it would pass in the stools", she found out that my dog was in fact dying. She cancelled all her appointments and proceeded an emergency surgery on the spot. My dog remained under intensive care for 6 days, but she saved him. I was told she even woke up during the night to check on him. This vet really loves animals.
